HEIC to JPG Converter

How do I convert HEIC to JPG? Drop your photos below and they convert the moment they land, one of them or the whole camera roll. The conversion runs on your own device, so the photos are never uploaded anywhere.

HEIC and HEIF photos
Drag photos in, click to pick them, or paste one. As many at once as your device can hold, at any size.

Or press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V) to paste a photo you just copied.

Convert HEIC to PNG or WebP instead

JPG is what a website, a form upload or a print shop will ask for. PNG keeps every pixel exactly as it was decoded, which is what you want if the photo is going into more editing. WebP makes the smallest file of the three.

Output format

At 92 the result is hard to tell from the original at normal viewing sizes. Around 75 is where photos start fitting inside an email attachment limit.

A phone records which way up it was held rather than turning the photo itself. This applies that, which is what stops a portrait shot arriving on its side.

What travels with the photo

An iPhone writes the date, the camera and the exact coordinates of where you were standing into every photo it takes. Decide here what comes across.

Metadata

These settings are remembered for next time, in this browser, on this device. There is no account behind that.

What is inside a HEIC file

A HEIC is a container rather than a single picture. The photo is stored as HEVC image data, usually cut into tiles, next to a thumbnail, a note of which way up it goes, and an EXIF block holding the date, the camera model and the coordinates. That packing is why the same photo is roughly half the size it would be as a JPEG, and why a computer without an HEVC decoder shows a blank icon where your picture should be.

One file can also hold more than one picture. A burst keeps every frame you shot, and a portrait shot keeps a depth map alongside the photo. When that happens the file is listed with the number of images inside it and the main one is what gets converted, so nothing quietly disappears.

Your photos are converted on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no server here to upload them to.

Frequently asked questions

Drop in the HEIC photos an iPhone saved and download them as JPG, PNG or WebP. A whole camera roll goes through in one pass, with the quality, the size and the GPS location under your control, and every photo stays on your device.
